A Hair-Raising Putting Tip from Steve Dresser Golf Academy

Steve Dresser of the Steve Dresser Golf Academy at True Blue Golf Club in Pawleys Island, S.C. is here to show us how you can use a simple variant of a common grooming accessory to help improve your putting game!

Steve Dresser:

I came up with a neat little idea (at least I think it is). Believe it or not, there was a day when I needed one of these to comb my hair.

(Holds up a hair pick/comb)

Now, I really just need this thing.

(Holds up the remains of a hair pick without the teeth in between)

But what I figured out this would do for me is, I can use it as a putting gauge.

Sure, you could take a couple of tees and do the same thing. But come on, let’s make it fun!

I could just put it right here (immediately in front of the hole), in front of the cup and practice short putts by reducing the size of the entrance to the cup. Or, I can use it like what I call a start gate, and put it a couple of feet in front of the golf ball, and use that to help me get the putt started on the correct line.

So we’d like to putt through the wicket, and right into the cup!
