Caledonia, True Blue Earn Top 100 National Honors from Golfweek’s 2021 Rankings

The masterpieces of “The Maverick” continue to rake in the national accolades, as the late Mike Strantz’s perennial award-winning designs at Caledonia Golf & Fish Club and True Blue Golf Club have now earned lofty spots in Golfweek’s Best 2021: Top 200 Resort Golf Courses in the U.S. rankings.

Caledonia, ranked 47th nationally in this list, and True Blue (tied for 73rd) are the Waccamaw Golf Trail’s lone representatives and among the Myrtle Beach area’s elite, joining The Dunes Golf & Beach Club (T43) in earning their customary spots inside yet another top 100 ranking. King’s North at Myrtle Beach National (T142), Legends Golf Resort’s Moorland Course (T144) and Grande Dunes Resort Course (T174) also joined Barefoot Resort & Golf’s Dye (T153), Love (T166) and Fazio (T193) courses among the nation’s top 200.

As two courses in Strantz’s prestigious design portfolio, both Caledonia and True Blue continue to represent the best in Lowcountry golf as the South Strand’s most popular choices among vacation golfers. In addition to their Golfweek honors, Caledonia and True Blue have been consistently cited among America’s top 100 public access courses in such national publications and media outlets as Golf Magazine, Golf Digest, and Golf Channel since their respective openings in 1994 and 1998, respectively.

This list was first published in the print issue of Golfweek’s Ultimate Guide. Hundreds of members of Golfweek’s course ratings panel regularly evaluate courses and rate them based on 10 criteria. They also file a single, overall rating on each course, with overall ratings on each course then averaged to produce a final cumulative rating.
