Five (Small) Things You Have To Do On A Caledonia-True Blue Golf Trip

When your golf trip has been booked, attention turns to the good times that lie ahead, and that’s doubly the case when your vacation takes you to Caledonia Golf & Fish Club and True Blue Golf Club.

Whether you have teed it up on the Mike Strantz designs before or are anticipating your first rounds on the Pawleys Island beauties, most golfers are aware of the majesty of the 18th at Caledonia and the scale of the layout at True Blue.

But there is more to a great golf trip than an unforgettable signature hole. If you are planning to play Caledonia and True Blue, here are five small things you can do to enhance the experience.

  • Let’s start with an easy one: you have to eat lunch on the porch at Caledonia. The combination of Lowcountry beauty, watching golfers play No. 18, and the quality of the food (do yourself a favor and order the Cliff’s Cajun chicken club) make this one of golf’s most iconic 19th holes. For the record, the food at True Blue is just as good and the experience on the deck is nearly equal to that of Caledonia. Matter of fact, the “All Day Breakfast” at True Blue is a locals favorite.
  • On-course games, primarily long drive and closest to the pin contests, are part of many trips and if that’s the case with your group, bring the proximity markers to True Blue. The runway-wide fairways and unforgettable par 3 are perfect for such contests. True Blue’s third hole is ideal for a CTP and everyone can break out the driver and wail away on the par 5 15th.
  • Leave room for the chowder at the turn during your round at Caledonia. Featuring hearty chunks of fish and potatoes, the homemade chowder is a delectable pick me up for golfers playing the course during the spring and fall months.
  • From a sweeping par 5 to open play to the closing par 4 that resides in the clubhouse shadow, True Blue is a reflection of Strantz’s artistry, so enjoy it. If you are an architecture buff, take the time to study the greens and the many options they provide, and relish the view looking back on the hole. True Blue offers a different type of beauty, but it is to be appreciated.
  • Visit the award-winning pro shops at both courses, providing you the opportunity get a keepsake from a bucket list round. A broad selection of hats, shirts, memorabilia and more mean there are appealing options for everyone, including the non-golfer in your life.

Hit’em well and we look forward to seeing you on the first tee.
