In a recent visit to Caledonia and True Blue, professional golfer and social media influencer Paige Spiranac also spent some time getting to know more about the Steve Dresser Golf Academy at True Blue. Check out the video recap of her visit!
Paige Spiranac: Hey everyone. It’s Paige Spiranac, and today we have a very special guest.
Steve Dresser: Hey, how are you doing? I’m Steve Dresser from Steve Dresser Golf Academy.
Paige Spiranac: Right now we are at your Academy and it is awesome. How long have you been here?
Steve Dresser: We’ve been at this location for almost 12 years. Been in the area for 29 years as of the other day, so I’m proud to say we’re starting our 30th year in the Grand Strand area.
Paige Spiranac: Wow, congratulations on that. You have True Blue right there and Caledonia across the street, so I think you’re pretty lucky to set up over here.
Steve Dresser: I am. I’m a lucky guy. I’ve got True Blue and Caledonia, you can’t go wrong there, and of course, we’ve got the four bays to hit from in here in case it starts raining, and we really have pretty much everything you need here.
Paige Spiranac: I love that. Tell us about yourself. How did you get into teaching, and what’s your teaching philosophy?
Steve Dresser: My philosophy would be pretty much whatever makes the ball go where you want it to go. Obviously there are some common denominators that you want to see among all the players, and I don’t like to box people into having to do the same thing. Especially in this area, quite frankly, we teach a lot of retired people who maybe don’t move quite as well as they want to. You’ve got to figure out a way for them to make the ball go where they want it to go.
There aren’t that many green grass facilities where you can go and be fit professionally with a TrackMan and all that stuff, watch the ball flight, not watch it going into a net and look at it through a screen.
Paige Spiranac: Just makes a huge difference.
Steve Dresser: Sure.
Paige Spiranac: Yes.
Steve Dresser: We have eight major brand names and US Kids Golf as well so we literally have eight fitting parts here, and what’s so cool is we hit right there so it’s not like you have to drag everything out, and then people come here and they get a thorough fitting with whatever brand they may want or whatever brand we end up putting them into.
Paige Spiranac: I believe you have the best fitters, the best instructors, the best facilities, you can’t beat that, right?
Steve Dresser: That’s what I like to think. So, sure, sounds good to me, yeah
