The most recent feedback at Golf Advisor, which features more than 825,000 reviews of 14,000-plus golf courses worldwide, includes two five-star reviews of True Blue Golf Club.
Reviewer rkimbrell, an advanced-level player (10-14 handicap) and Golf Advisor Top 250 contributor who plays a few times a week, played True Blue on September 1, 2018. This reviewer’s five-star rating came with the following observations:
“Saved the best for last. True Blue was my 12th and final course to play during my 2018 Myrtle Beach World Amateur trip. We definitely saved the best for last. This course was in excellent condition. The best we played on all week. Greens were perfect as was the rest of the course. Personally, I like this course better than Caledonia, which is just around the corner. If you have never played True Blue, on your next trip to the Myrtle Beach area, play here.”
Golf Advisor’s Matt Ginella thinks quite highly of True Blue as well, having included the Mike Strantz design in his “Top 50 U.S. Courses You Can Play” rankings for 2016 (No. 41) and 2015 (No. 42). Reviewer u000006162017, another advanced-level player (10-14 handicap) who plays a few times a week, took Ginella’s recommendation to heart, playing True Blue for the first time ever on July 13, 2018. The reviewer came away from the experience raving with another five-star rating:
“Loved this course. We played this course on the recommendation of Matt Ginella. We got a ‘bounce back’ rate for having played the sister course Caledonia earlier in the week. We loved it so much we played 36 holes despite how hot it was! The food was very good and the beer was cheap. This is a difficult course, but so worth playing!”
