Recently 400+ golfers descended upon Myrtle Beach to take part in the Fall Classic presented by Short Par 4. Throughout the week the two-person teams played four rounds of golf at different courses around the area, including True Blue. The teams played different formats throughout the week that included best ball, Texas scramble, scramble and modified alternate shot. Things got underway Sunday evening where competitors showed up to pick up their complementary Short Par 4 box and enjoy some hors d’oeuvres, drinks and live music at The House of Blues.
Though the weather was questionable at times through the first two rounds, all four flights were able to brave the elements and keep the competition on schedule. The third round brought on cooler temperatures, but golfers in the Spieth and Thomas flight enjoyed their experience at True Blue Golf Club. The scramble format saw the team of Wagener and Wagener heat up True Blue with a round of 67, and the Norman and Reinhart team took it even lower shooting a 65! Not to be outdone, three separate teams shot a net 61.
A participating couple from Philadelphia told us True Blue’s greens were the best they have ever putted on. The overall consensus from the field was overwhelming: they were in love with our golf course!
Though the final round was in jeopardy as well as heavy rain came barreling through the area early Thursday morning, thanks to a break in the rain and dedicated on-course staff, all four final rounds were able to be played without a problem. The week ended where it started, at The House of Blues. With dinner, drinks, live music, and prizes it was the perfect way to end the week.
